Vienna to Rothenburg

I will be traveling from Prague to Vienna, and then from Vienna to Rothenburg-- What is the best way to get to Rothenburg by train?

Benjamin, the trip from Vienna to Rothenburg ob-der-Tauber is fairly straightforward, but unfortunately a bit of a long trip.

The trip will be 6-7 hours, with 2 or 3 train changes (depending on which train you select). The quickest journey I was able to find was 6H09M, with 3 changes (Nurnberg, Ansbach and Steinach). The change in Steinach can not be avoided, as Rothenburg is accessed via a "spur line" from there, using a diesel train as I recall (that route is not electrified). With that particular train, if you departed at 08:40, you would arrive in Rothenburg at 14:49. Note that depending on when you'll be travelling, the schedules could change before then.

Although it's a bit of a long travel day, that's probably the route I would choose.

Happy travels!
