I am trying to book train tickets from Vienna to Prague for July - 2 adults and 2 children. I have checked TGV, Czech-Transport and OeBB and am coming up with very different prices. TGV- €238, Czech €164 and OeBB €78. Obviously, OeBB is much cheaper, but why? Am I missing something? Also, is it necessary to book ahead of time or should I just wait to buy them at the station? Thanks
It is not necessary to book tickets ahead. OeBB is Austrian railroad website. That's probably why they are cheaper.
I always use this website for Czech Rail, and I thought is was the official site. But this site only gives fares for trips entirely inside the CR. If you are using some site that resells Czech Rail tickets, maybe that is why they would be higher.
