Does anyone have any tips about how I should get back to France from Vienna? I am open to taking the train or the plane. I am looking for the cheapest way to do so...

The overnight train from Vienna to Paris via Strasburg is very efficient and relaxing - especially when you can get a private room. However, it's not the cheapest. Strictly on price, you will do better with a flight.
For flights, I like watching www.skyscanner.net.

Air Berlin and SkyEurope both fly from Vienna to France (see http://www.whichbudget.com/cheapflights.php?from=VIE). Alternatively, go across to Bratislava and then you've got more choice, as you can add easyJet and Ryanair to your list (http://www.whichbudget.com/cheapflights.php?from=BRS).
