We are flying into Vienna on Austrian airlines arriving at 9 AM; connecting to Adria Airways at 10:10 AM to Ljubljana. Is that enough time in between flights? Or should we rebook to later departure time to Ljubljana. I see there are four flights per day that go from Vienna to Ljubljana. Would it make any difference if we checked or didn't check bag?
Regardless of your luggage status, that's an awfully small window to catch a connecting flight. If possible, go for a later flight.
Yes, you should rebook, esp. if the consequences of missing your connection are significant (late arrival, chance of your accommodation reservation being canceled for no show, etc).
Linda, I hate sitting around in airports waiting for flights so personally I would risk it.
According to the Vienna airport website
"The ongoing flight to your final destination "VIA VIENNA" is convenient and extremely quick due to short distancies between the gates at the airport. A minimum connecting time of 25 Minutes (between Star-Alliance-Flights) can be assured."
Both Austrian and Adria are Star Alliance. If you carry your bag on you won't have the situation where you make the flight but your bag misses.
I have missed flights on tight connections (in London). However, I've always been put on the next flight. If your arrival is delayed at all, tell the flight attendant that you have a tight connection and ask for advice; the airlines often have ground crew at the gate who can direct you.
It's all dependent on whether or not the arriving flight is on time. I like to have a little extra time for a potty-break and maybe grabbing food for the next leg. I don't mind risking missed flights on the way home, but I don't want to start a trip with that kind of hassle and stress.
I havnt flown Austrian Air but on Lufhansa in Munich they have 45 minutes between flights. On our Chicago,Munich,Venice flight we had no problem. On the way home our flight left 5 minutes later and we had 40Minutes and the airline changed us to a later flight because we didnt have 45 minutes.
