Versailles to Paris

We will be dropping off our rental car near Versailles then heading to Paris for about 3 days. There are 5 of us with luggage. Does anyone think it would be better to take the train or a taxi? I know the train is faster and cheaper but I have never been to Paris so I am not sure about handling the luggage on a commuter train. Any thoughts?
Thanks

It's unlikely that one taxi will be able to handle 5 passengers with luggage. The maximum is often 4 passengers, sometimes not even 4, depending on how much luggage. And so you're probably looking at 2 taxi fares.

Re luggage on a commuter train, depending on the time of day and other factors, there may be limited space--think of it as just another good reason to pack light.
