Hello! Me and my husband are going to Europe for the 1st time on Sept 5 but I am a bit confused about the FORFAIT LOISIRS for versailles. We will be arriving at Orly on Sept 17 early morning (from Rome) and going directly to Versailles. If I get the FORFAIT LOISIRS, should I still get an RER ticket to go Paris? Could I get the FORFAIT LOISIRS at the Orly airport? We are staying there overnight and will be flying back to Houston at 1pm from CDG. What will be the best and easiest way to go to the airport? Also, can we get the FORFAIT LOISIRS when we arrive at CDG on Sept 6 (itinerary is Paris-Nice-Rome-Versailles-Houston) to save time? Sorry, so many questions... Thanks!
Tess....you can purchase a Forfait Loisirs pass that will get you from Orly directly to the Versailles Rive-Gauche stop, but it'll cost you a few Euro more. The pass from central Paris costs 21.65 Euro, while from zone 4 (which is where Orly airport is located), the price is 26.30, still a better deal than buying separate RER tickets. However, I'm not sure if you can use the return portion of the train ticket to go back into Paris the next day...I've only used it on day trips, so ask at the ticket office. If you can, you might want to get a Zone 5 pass, since that'll take you all the way back out to CDG the next morning. You can purchase the pass when you arrive at CDG at the same time you purchase your RER tickets to come into Paris. The Forfait Loisirs are currently valid until 1 November. Thanks so much, Norm! Now, I understand what the zones are for. I will just ask when we buy the ticket, then we can decide. Again, we really appreciate it!
