The people who post on this board are fellow travelers like yourself. We do not work for Rick Steves. New timetables will go into effect on 9 June and Trenitalia hasn't uploaded all of them yet. The standard 2nd class fare for a direct IC train from Ventimiglia to Milano is €30.00. The good news is that if you book in advance on trenitalia.com, you can get a Super Economy fare as low as €9.00. The bad news is that you'll either have to wait until all the timetables are up to date before booking or simply buy a full fare ticket at the station in Ventimiglia. To see the current timetables, go to trenitalia.com and enter a date within the next 7 days. The new timetables should be virtually identical to the current ones.
