We are travelling Venice to Vernazza. Do we take the Venice to La Spezia route and then a local train north to La Spezia? Tips please
You can either go to La Spezia or Genoa. It's a matter of the number of transfers and train time. If you go to www.trenitalia.it, you can check train schedules.
The URL for the English version of the Trenitalia site is www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html. To get accurate timetables and fares enter a date within 60 days from today.
We went to La Spezia, then a local train into CT. To connect to the local trains on the other end of CT would probably be out of the way.
Trains from Venice to the Vernazza, Trenitalia will mostly show you runs that mostly go through Florence or Bologna/Prato and to La Spezia. From La Spezia, you take the local to Vernazza. Trenitalia shows this journey to take up to 7.5hrs. Expect 2-3 train changes. There is an occasional run that goes through Milan/Genoa if you wish to go that way.
