Venice to Padova

If I have never been to Italy, and we are flying into Venice a few days before a RS Tour begins in Padova; what is the best way to get there on the tour day? Train or Bus? And also when in Venice, best place to stay for a one or two night visit?

Thx-

Since you are already in Venice the easiest way is by train. Padova is about 30 minutes away by train, then either a taxi ride or a local bus ride to your hotel in Padova (assuming they are still staying at the Fagiano). We took the Village Italy tour in 2007 and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We also enjoyed our stay at Pensione Guerrato. 2x now we have also rented one of Hotel Campiello's 3 apartments and they are very nice and in a great location. We have also stayed at Hotel Rialto on the Grand Canal near the Rialto Bridge but was too expensive.

I took the train last year from Venice(also for a Village tour). It was no problem at all. I did treat myself to a taxi from the train station to the hotel in Padova though.
