Is it possible that the couchettes are sold out for Sept. 9 already? That's what the Bahn site says. The price would be cheaper through Bahn than Trenitalia for us 3 adults without passes, but Trenitalia has tickets, and Bahn doesn't. It is 89 days before. Recommendations?

The Bahn site shows couchettes being available for both 8 and 10 September so it's possible that they are sold out for 9 September. However, you could phone the Bahn Call Centre and ask. Dial 011 (US international access code) + 49 (country code for Germany) + 1805 - 996633.

Kim....booking on Trenitalia is very difficult for many, unless you've already registered on their site and received a confirmation e-mail. I would suggest calling the Bahn office at 011-49-1805-141-514 ASAP to confirm that they're sold out of couchettes....if they are, call Trenitalia ASAP at 011-39-06-6847-5475
