I am having a hard time determining how to get from Venice to either Pula or Split. We are planning to leave Venice the 2nd of April and are unsure how Easter weekend will affect our transportation. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Are you going back to Venice, or going on from there?
If you're heading back to Italy, it's actually quite a lovely drive. One way drop off fees can be a killer though.
We are not heading back to Venice. The plan is to end our trip in Zadar and fly back to Frankfurt. Our other issue is getting to Krka National Park and/or Plitvice Lakes during the holiday weekend. I understand that Easter Monday is an observed holiday as well. Will bus schedules be affected? Thanks for all the help!
The catamarans from Venice to Istria may not run that early in April. If not, bus would be your best public transportation option. You can check Venice to Pula bus schedules and prices at www.pulainfo.hr. Select Transportation and then Bus. If you want to go from Venice to Split, then take a bus to Rijeka and catch the 7PM overnight Jadrolinija ferry to Split. You can check ferry schedules and prices at www.jadrolinija.hr.
You can take the train from Venice to Trieste and the bus from there to Pula. Pick up a car in Pula and drop it off where you depart Croatia. I found the best deal on the car from Hertz through AAA.
