Trying hard to find train schedule (or understand same) to take us from Venice to Lesce Bled. I believe we have to change trains in Villach but totally unclear. Also, can we rent a car in Italy (or Slovenia) and drive to Croatia and return? Grazie!

Call a few Italian auto rental agencies and ask. Some agencies will allow your taking a car into Croatia. The only way you will know is to ask. You may find it easier to take your car in Slovenia instead of Italy.
?Create a list of
companies you want to research. Do that by
searching google for ‘auto rental Italy’. You will
find 50 suggestions such as autoeurope, avis, alamo,
sixt, europecar, and Kemwel.
I usually call a few of
them to get a feel for the current rates, since they
change frequently. My experience with Sixt (a
German firm) was best.
They permitted me to drive
into E Europe at no additional cost. I also had
success with Kemwel (a British firm).

Enter Venezia St Lucia as the departure station. It will give you the details for the Villach connection.

Venice to Villach dep 14:44 arr 17:40
Villach to Lesce-Bled dep 18:04 arr 19:05
I took this same route in May (although did not get off at Lesce Bled but continued on to Ljubljana).
