We are an Alaskan family of four (kids 10 and 13) in Venice starting July 11 and due at a boat tour starting in Athens on July 16. We want as much Venice as possible, ideally arriving Athens the 15th. We have searched and air is E1100 or more and ferry leaves only Wednesday and takes two days (and expensive for a cabin), rail is long and expensive too. Any ideas or creative alternatives?
Check out flights to Athens from Milan or Rome. It's a relatively short and inexpensive train ride from Venice to either city.
Charlene, Thank you. That helped a lot. We are now getting the train to Milan and a much cheaper flight to Athens. Connecting from Milan train station (Centrale) to airport by cheap bus. Long day but the expensive air was not direct so it took a long time too. Really appreciate it. Eric
Glad to be able to help. What a wonderful trip this will be for you ... Venice and then the Greek Isles! Enjoy.
