We are going to be taking the Venice-Paris overnight train in July and are looking to stay in the 1st class double sleeper by paying the reservation charge on top of our 2nd class rail pass. I have spoken with Rail Europe and another rail agency and they have both said that on top of the $128 reservation per person I will be charged an upcharge to step up to 1st class when I am there. I have also asked Euraide but they told me that it does not matter which pass you have, it will only be the reservation charge and nothing else. I am not quite looking for what websites say as that varies, but has anyone done this or experienced it and able to share with me how it all worked? thanks
