Venice Hotel Ala Venezia to Trieste cruise port

Hello,

I've seen several options for traveling from Venice Airport to Trieste but not from hotels.

Does anyone know of a private van service that will pick you up at our hotel (Hotel Ala Venezia) and drive us to our cruise port in Trieste? There are 12 of us.

Advice very appreciated.

Thank you.

You have a few challenges with this request. There will be no van that can pick you up from your hotel. I think your best option is to take water taxis to the airport and then take the other transportation options from there. I'm not sure how many can fit on a water taxi, but it seems likely to be the best option for your size group.

You haven’t seen any van pick ups from Venice hotels because the hotels are on waterways, thus the need to travel from the hotels by boat. Then switch to land transportation when possible. Ask the hotel to get you boat transportation and more specific directions.

Looks like it's a short walk from your hotel to the vaporetto (water bus) stop. Take the vaporetto to the train station Venezia S Lucia. Take the train to Trieste, about 1 1/2 hours; you can buy tickets on the TrenItalia app, website or at the station. Arrange for taxis to take all you and your luggage to the cruise port. The cruise line should have information how to get from the train depot to the cruise port. Do they have a courtesy bus (land) from Venice to Trieste?

How long are you staying in Venice? You may want to buy vaporetto passes. https://avm.avmspa.it/it/content/vaporetto
Since it sounds like you're unfamiliar with Venice, how are you getting to your hotel? Venice is lots of little islands so no car roads after Piazzale Rome bus depot.

I'm not familiar with the Trieste cruise port. The only time I traveled from Venice to Trieste was a day trip to Lipica. I'm headed to Venice for the third time in September. My favorite city.

EDIT: You can ask your hotel if there is a Water Taxi available from the hotel to the train or bus stations. Be forewarned they are expensive and for your large group you will need more than one.

Take the vaporetto from the Giglio stop to Piazzale Roma where a van can pick you up. Now find that van.
You might look at Go-Opti. For private transfers email booking@goopti.com

hey hey jmh
you have a few options to think about from budget to expensive, plus keeping track of your gang of 12. are they all adults or are there kids too? when is this trip/cruise, pack light and everyone in charge of own suitcases. using a vaporetto may not be worth it to fit all of your gang and luggage from your hotel to station, go in style and pay the extra for private water taxi

how to get from venice to trieste cruise port. lots of info and options
motoscafivenezia.com
private water taxi "more expensive/split cost". will need 2 boats with your group & luggage. we've used them 4 times, way to go.
rome2rio.com
look at transportation and options: bus & train (cost PP, discount for seniors 60+ and the number of passengers, time of journey, and how long is journey)
private transportation in a van, make sure it fits 12 of you and all your bags. make cost you up to $1000, remember they need to bring that van back to venice
flixbus.com
trenitalia.com
give herself time to shower, pack, breakfast, getting to train station, what will the crowds be like who knows?
you may want to buy a snack/lunch at station or on train or bus, whichever you choose.
so much to think about what's not only best, "cheapest" just to save money, more headaches and stress. what's a few more euros for comfort with what you've paid for this holiday

You want someone to pick you up at your hotel and drive you to Trieste? You do know what Venice is famous for?

I agree that the vaporetto to the station and then the train to Trieste sounds like the best option.

Thank you everyone for your responses. It's overwhelming (for a first time visitor) to understand the way transportation works in Venice. I have a much better understanding and plan.
