Venice area to Budapest

Any suggestions on the best way to travel from Venice, Italy area to Budapest - by train, bus or air? We fly into Rome, rent a car for Italy but then want to go to Hungary and fly home from Budapest. We can't take a rented car one-way from Italy to Hundary so need a way to get to Budapest. Any ideas appreciated!

We are also planning on visiting Budapest at the end of our Italy vacation ( June 2012 ). We are flying Wizz Air from Rome to Budapest. Wizz Air flys out of multiple Italian locations. The prices can't be beat.
