Venice and Dolomites:Sept. or Oct. trip for 17 days NEED HELP

Hi, We are flying out of Orlando and will be visiting both Venice and Dolomites. I am shocked at the flight costs compared to
last years flight to Amstedam and out of Frankfurt. So is Venice just that much more expensive?
Has anyone had any success with companies that offer low prices for the best seats?
Is there a better airport for the Dolomites that might be cheaper?
Thank you for any tips.

Always buy directly from the airlines, never from third party vendors.
Research your flights on Google Flights, and set up price Alerts. I've found that flying into Milan is cheaper than Venice, especially this year. Good luck!

You can look at Milan for a better air price. It is a pretty easy train journey from Milan Malpensa to Venice. Also look at flying into Munich to go to the Dolomites first.

We flew into Munich, rented a car and drove to Ortesei, then on to Venice. We ended up in Frankfurt after 3 weeks. If you’re renting a car, you want to rent and return it to the same country. But you might consider flying into Munich or Innsbruck, taking the train to Bolzano, and renting a car there. Assuming you are renting a car at all. If not, take the bus from Bolzano.

You should realize how much longer the flight is to Venice since the two cities are about 600 miles apart. The only other airport even close, as mentioned above, is Milan but you’ll have a longer time on the train to get to Bolzano or Venice.

Venice airport is more expensive, and more crowded, during cruise ship season even though the ships don’t actually dock there. Look at flying into Munich (for the Dolomites) and out of Milan, or even Bologna. Put the Dolomites first and fit that part into September, as things do start closing down at the end of that month. We were fine in September 2023 up to Sept. 30 (nice weather and all lifts we wanted were running).

BTW, I am seeing flights from Orlando on United/Lufthansa changing in Frankfurt to/from Venice for about $1000 on Sundays in September for a 17 day trip.
