There will be four of us women, active 70 year olds. We are flying into Venice in May and going right to Verona for 5 days before a bike trip. Is the train station in the airport like Amsterdam or should I try to arrange a shuttle or private transportation ? We are light travelers but don't want to walk far with our luggage and schlep around too much. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
You could take a bus all the way https://global.flixbus.com/bus-routes/bus-verona-venice-airport?departureCity=23238&arrivalCity=2165&wt_mc=acq.com.FlixBus.sea-nonbrand.google.3263235012.2041643751_71711723225.ad&wt_cc1=non-branded&wt_cc5=%2Bbus%20%2Bmarco%20%2Bpolo%20%2Bairport%20%2Bverona&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhtzj7Nnq5AIVA1YMCh02TAjrEAAYASAAEgIZkvD_BwE. Or, you could take a bus to Padova, then a train to Verona. The Padova bus station is next door to the train station. Or, you could take a bus to the Venezia Mestre train station (~6 miles from the airport) and the train to Verona.
The closest train station is Venezia Mestre. There is shuttle bus from the airport door for about 7 EUR per person. A taxi for 4 would not be much more. Then there are frequent trains to Verona, either Regionale for 9.25 EUR per person, or a pricey Freccia or Italo fast train. If you shoot for the Regionale Veloce at 24 past the hour, it is almost as fast as the high speed trains.
