I don't think any of the three choices would be particularly unsafe, certainly not if you're streetwise in NY. Bus to P.Roma, vaporetto to the stop nearest your abode. Venice doesn't do blocks, what did you mean? Do you know the vaporetto stop your abode suggests? Alilaguna to the nearest Alilaguna stop to your abode (see prev. paragraph), could be S Marco, Zattare, F Nuova, depending then walk or vaporetto. Private water taxi (by far the most expensive) to your abode if it has a dock (probably) or walk from a nearby dock.
