We have 4 senior people (with 4 luggages 24" each) will board the cruise in Venice in May. From Marco Polo airport VCE to the cruise terminal, the cruise line transportation will charge $35 each person one way. Is this reasonable ? I heard it is not too far but we do not know what are other better options. (Will arrive in 2 PM in airport).
Thank you for any comments/suggestions.
The airport bus drops you off in a plaza near the train station (Piazzle Roma). You will need to take the "People Mover" monorail from there to the cruise ship terminal. If you are seniors and don't want to carry your luggage--the cruise line option is the best.
If you are comfortable loading your luggage on and off a bus, walking 100 yards and riding the people mover, its 7 Euro (6+1), ($10). Otherwise the $35 quoted is in the ballpark for a transfer via water taxi.
The $35 is reasonable. When dealing with older people I think it is better to use the cruise-ship transfers. They do a certain amount of babysitting and so forth. It's not that hard to figure things out at the airport, but it's just easier if someone is there holding a sign for you. My brother went on a Princess cruise with my dad and they booked the ship's transfers. Their flight was very late and they literally bent over backwards to get them on the ship. If you are traveling on your own you are more likely to be left. (I like to fly in a day early for trips like this, specifically to allow for flight cancellations).
Thank you very very much for your help and advice!!
