vat reinbursement

I was just looking at flights from rome to vienna in july. The ticket price was $69 and the tax was $70. How could the tax be 100% of the price??? is this tax one I can get back for VAT reimbursement??

The "taxes" probably include things like landing fees at the airports, which don't change. And no, you can't get the VAT back for services, like airline tickets and hotels....just for goods that you're bringing home.

And to make matters worse, the add-ons will not stop with the "taxes." You will likely encounter fees: for booking with a credit/debit card, for luggage, for _____. The "ticket price" is what gets your attention - previous years there were a lot of 0€ fares touted (we even got some of them). Did we fly for 0€? Hahahaha - nope. It's a dance.
