Varenna Train Station

I have just purchased train tickets from Varenna to Civitavecchia. The Milan to Civitavecchia portion , I am only supposed to show the PNR on the train . however it states that I am supposed to print my ticket from Varenna to Milan at self service machines or ticket office. I remember reading somewhere that it is not usually staffed. Any advice would be appreciated

Not only is the Varenna train station not staffed, there is no ticket machine. Travelers must purchase tickets at the travel agent you will find with a promiinent sign on the walk to the train station from the town. I assume they will print the ticket for you. They were very nice when we bought out tickets there. And since this is a regional train, you must stamp the ticket before boarding. The outside validation machine was not working when we were there last summer. maybe they have fixed it. If not, try the inside one.

Thank you for the info- the train leaves @ 8:37 If the travel agent is not open . I guess I will take the printout with the PNR code on the train and have to plead my case with the conductor.

Will you be in Varenna the day before? You could pick up the ticket then. Or if you will be elsewhere in Italy, a station agent at another town should be able to help you.
