Is there a ferry from Varenna to Switzerland? No. * * * ¶ Even if there was, it wouldn't be the best way to get from Varenna to Wengen. If you mean Wengen in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, then the train is your best mode of transportation. Go to this site to view train schedules: http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en, input Varenna-Esino as the From and Wengen (CH) as the To.

You could take a ferry across to Mennagio, and a bus from there to Lugano in Switzerland (there is regular service). But you're still a long way from Wengen-you would take a train tooward Zurich but get off at Arth-Goldau and change to a train for Luzern, thentake the Golden Pass route to Interlaken, change to Lauterbrunnen, and again for Wengen. It is much simpler to go from Varenna back to Milan, and take a northbound train to Spiez, changing there for Interlaken. I addition to the schedules at bahn.de, you can see the route on the Swiss webiste,www.sbb.ch (or rail.ch for English). I think it is simpler and easier to use than the German site, which makes you put in age information, etc. before it will give you the route.
