while you could incorporate a ferry ride into this journey (like Varenna to Como, or one of the Swiss lake boats on Lake Luzern, Brienzeersee, or Thuneresee), it would make your travel time considerably longer. the fastest trip is by train,x starting with the 10:37 am departure from Varenna. (W sew on that train 2 days ago).
that trip, via Milan, Brig, and Spiez, takes 6 hours.
