I bought a ticket through raileurope (yeah I know, probably paid too much). One leg, Carcassonne to Montpilier) is on a regional train with no reservation. Do I need to validate that segment at the station?
What about the other reserved segments?

YES! Look for the 'yellow box' and validate the regional train ticket. If you have a seat reservation on those OTHER tickets, you don't need to validate. I've read plenty of expats there who still validate EVERYTHING just to be sure! Sounds good to me...
