I have a question about when to validate a 5 day rail pass. The journey starts at 6.30 am at Gare est in Paris(to Zurich). Would the booth be open at this time to validate the trip? If not, is it possible to go there a day before in the evening and get the validation for the following day? I heard it costs more to validate it on the train(Fines?) Thanks
Purnima, what type of 5-day pass is this? If it is a [INVALID] pass, where you choose 5 travel days within a certain time, you can have it validated ahead of time (a day or two ahead) and then you write in the date you actually use it yourself (before you get on the train or at least before the conductor asks to see it).
Lola, what word became Invalid? Thanks.. probably best if you spell it incorrectly so it doesn't trigger the alarm....
It is a saver flexipass. 5 days/3 countries.
Nigel, thank you for the alert. The word is s e l e c t and I've tried several times to edit but it won't accept the change. We'll see if it turns it into "invalid" here too. (EDIT: it does unless I space the letters). It appears Purnima will have a Flex pass which is a different word for the same thing. You can get it validated (showing your passport and gettin git officially stampted) a day or two before first use. It is good for either 30 or sixty days, during which you choose th e5 days to use it. So no problem with the early train departure. Just get it validated before that, and then be sure an denter the date in the first of the 5 little boxes for dates on the pass. Do this before the conductor asks to see it.
