Has anyone ever validated a rail pass at CDG? Trying to take advantage of "contremarque de passage" on the ride from the airport to Gare du Nord.
Unless you're going to get on a SNCF train at Gare du Nord and use your railpass to travel quite some distance from Paris, don't waste a pass day on the RER B from CDG to Gare du Nord. The fare is only 8.20€ from CDG to anywhere in central Paris and includes transfers to other RER lines and/or the Metro.
We're headed to Gare de l'Est to catch a train to Munich after landing so we were already planning to use a day on railpass the day we land.
So, Tim, in other words, he has to validate the pass somewhere because he is using it for the train to Munich. He could validate it at Gare de l'est, but then he would have to pay to ride to there. Instead he wants to validate it at CDG so he can get the free ticket into town. But where at CDG do they validate railpasses? Can they do it at the RER ticket window? Does the pass actually have to be validated at CDG?
Lee, I'm certain that the pass can be validated at the TGV station at Terminal 2 (which is also a RER station). Since the RER B line between CDG and Gare du Nord is operated by SNCF, perhaps a pass can also be validated at the CDG 1 RER station, but I don't know for sure if that's possible or not.
