My wife and I are planning a trip to Vienna and Venice. Has anyone used vayama for flights? We'd love to hear your thoughts on your experience. Also, in regard to taking a train (return) from Vienna to Venice, we thought we would book our travel through the ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG website (Austrian railway?). Any thoughts on that? Thank you so much. We tend to be good researchers, but it certainly helps to hear firsthand experiences.
Yes this is our second time using Vayama, we've gotten our best airfare from them. Of course you can't cancel or change your flights...Any questions are answered within 24hrs by e-mail or phone, but the hold wait can be long. We always insure our trips so I feel fine with Vayama
Troy - just remember that Vayama is a consolidator and you have to go through them for any changes or rebooking. You can not deal directly with the airlines. if you flight is cancelled you may be delayed in finding out since Vayama will provide the notification after they recieve it from the Airline. You can help to mitigate this by checking the flight status with the airline and being proactive by contacting Vayama should the flight be cancelled or have it schedule changed. There will be a delay in changing or rebooking since you have to go through Vayama, Vayama will contact the airline, and finally Vayama will get back to you. Also, some of the consolidator tickets are pieced together and use different airlines for each segment. These airlines may or may not reaccomondate you at the airport if you miss a connection since you really need to go through Vayama to rebook in this instance. Usually comes down to how comfortable you are with the possiblility of a longer delay than dealing directly with the airlines. Edwin
