I would like to travel to Versailles Friday, return Saturday.
Questions: (1) Will Le Passeport cover this trip? (2) Will it cover the Chateau on friday and noon water displays on Saturday or do I have to purchase a separate ticket for the Saturday?
First, are you aware that the fountain display only runs from 1 April to 30 September?
Second, are you sure you want to go both days? If you do, you will need separate tickets. There is a range of prices which depend upon the time of the year, how much access you want, and whether you visit on a weekday or on a weekend. See here.
Yes, we will be travelling in May. Will Le Passeport cover the 2 days travel (Fri and Sat)? I was hoping to stay over-night, Fri night, just to see the fountains at noon and then head back to Paris. Maybe this is a waste of time and money?
Contrary to what you may have read, Le Passeport is a one-day pass that covers admission only. The pass that covers admission plus roundtrip transportation on the Metro and RER is the Forfait Loisirs. All the details used to be on the Transilien site, but that site says they no longer sell the Forfait Loisirs for Versailles or any other chateau. Since it's now possible to book either a regular ticket or Le Passeport online, it's possible that the Forfait Loisirs has been phased out. But I don't know that for sure.
At any rate, you would have to pay full admission price (€25) on Saturday to see the fountain display. It seems to me you would be better off spending one day--either Friday or Saturday--rather than two at Versailles.
Thank you Tim for your advice.
It is as well I am planning well in advance.
Cheers,
You're welcome, Bob.
Happy planning--and have a great trip!
