just a fair warning for the adventurous types using the Interrail/Eurail in Europe this summer:
I've now read several trip reports that contain many complaints about trip planning and actually traveling.
Remember, you can't get information about reservations or availability in one country for ANOTHER country. You might have a ticket but you need reservation, which you can only get in the country. The booking systems are NOT connected. A friend of mine tried to travel from Cologne/Germany to Portugal for two weeks WITH a Eurorail pass and missed every other train, spent four nights in towns/hotels she did not want to and lost faith in the system.
It seems that not only air travel but ground travel is hopelessly overbooked this summer.
Happy travels
Good advice for those thinking about Eurail. Most are advised to steer clear of Eurail. Other rail options and valuable advice are available at seat61.com.

You usually can using the internet.

They sort of are, in a very special way.
But yes, many trains are fully booked so buy your tickets in advance for longer trips.
