Hi everyone:
I am planning on a weekend trip (Friday afternoon to Sunday night) from Oxford to Edinburgh, I realize that there isn't a direct train route going between the two places, so which route do people suggest? And how will I be using my rail pass if there is/are transfer(s)? Thank you very much!

Stephanie, all you need to do is show your pass to the conductor when he is making his rounds. It doesn't matter how many transfers there are, it only counts as one travel day to Edinburgh, and then another when you return to Oxford. According to nationalrail.co.uk the minimum number of transfers will be one, at either Birmingham or New Castle. I would try for one of those.
