use of Garmin in Italy

Why would there be any restrictions? Just be sure you have updated maps for Italy.

The question came from reading the literature in the Garmin package stating that in some European countries the use of FM transmitters is illegal due to specific radio frequency restrictions.

GPS does not use the FM band. That model does not have bluetooth, and the specs do not show a radio transmitter. Two gaps in that particular model, for me anyway, are the lack of a speed limit display, always handy, and the fact that it seems to only accept one country or region at a time.

Thanks for answering that question. I was not sure if the Garmin Nuvi had the FM transmitter.
