We're flying USAIR to Gatwick and 3 hours later will leave on British Airways for Venice. We won't be checking baggage. Info please about passport control and security. Do we just go to the BA gate from the USAIR gate with our carry-ons?

You will have to go through another security check. If your connecting BA flight is to the UK you will pass through immigration at Gatwick. If your final destination is on the continent then the immigration check will be conducted there.

You'll arrive at the South Terminal at Gatwick and will have to transfer to the North terminal for your flight to Venice. You'll go through Immigration & Customs in Venice.
