Hello - Traveling on American Airlines ORD to ATH. They have us connecting in PHL with only a 48 minute layover. AA indicated it’s enough time to make connecting flight, but seems very tight. We are not checking luggage. Any insight? We are considering changing to an earlier flight with a 3 hour layover. I’ve never connected in PHL before. Thank you
Definitely switch to the earlier flight.
You can make a 48 minute connection in PHL if everything goes right, but it's not worth the risk of missing your transatlantic flight if your inbound flight is even a little late. Even if your ORD flight is on time, your ATH flight will already be boarding when you land in Philly.
Thank you!
Airlines suggest a l.5 hour minimum layover to make a connecting flight, and even that small amount of time would make me anxious. Good advice to change to the other flight. The gates in PHL are spread out, and require a lot of walking, especially between terminals.
Agreed. I've done a quick turnaround in PHL, and it was horrible. I ran through the airport and barely made the flight. PHL is large, and no matter what American says, it's not a good idea.
