US Airfare to Paris & Italy in September

Hi, I'm planning to fly to Paris and fly back from Venice in September. How early in advance should I book my ticket? When will be the fare be the cheapest? Should I book now?

Also, I'll be flying to Rome from Paris. Do you recommand to book that flight now? or wait until the date gets closer?

Thanks!

There are no answers to any of your question other than, "It depends ..." Use comparefare to look at historical pattern, watch the price for awhile and when it hits a number you like, buy it. Save for Rome to Paris.

No real way to know now.

But, I like Kayak.com as they often give you options for looking at trends in regards to airfare costs and the airfare they publish are always legit, unlike some of the other companies. Once you search on kayak for a general flight time, on the left hand border, you'll see "show chart of fare history." Use that to see the trends for airfare to your destination.

There are similar other sites that do the same out there also.

Tough one! Air carriers charge different amounts according to the "season" you are traveling. On top of that they can and will change rates at will. Do your home work and just stay on top of it. Much like the stock market it goes up and down with little notice. Sorry.

Hi Jenny,

I watched prices for several months for an upcoming trip flying out of NYC to Malaga, Spain and from Paris to NYC on the return trip. I thought the best air fare I would get for a June 29th departure would be about $1,100pp - well, I got a great deal! I got $800pp on Aer Lingus (1 short layover in Dublin each way). They had a sale and I was there to snatch up the great price. So start searching now, and like the previous poster said, buy when you think you've got the best deal. I also use www.kayak.com, but also go direct to the airline sights. I bought my tickets direct for Aer Lingus, it was cheaper than buying their tickets through anywhere else.

I second Kerry's comments. When I decided to travel this summer I started to look for fares in April and thought I would have to pay at least $1,200 to travel into Zurich and out of Munich but I got a ticket for $740 on Delta which was within my budget and which I felt was a deal. Two weeks later the fare went down to by $70.00, and last two weeks it was $620.00. I was a little unhappy and would have liked to pay the lowest possible fare obviously but
I still think I got a deal and I am trying to move on ;-) but that's how airfares are. Find something within your budget and get your ticket because you never know what the fare would be tomorrow or the next hour even. I think September is still considered high season in those cities you are traveling to but check the airline's website. Delta is always having a sale. Good luck. Nadine

I have been looking for airfare in Sept from the West Coast to Italy for about a week. The rates were around $700 pp, which sounded perfect. I doubled checked last night. I went to book the fare this morning and all the airlines doubled their prices. It is frustrating b/c of the fluctuation.

Set a reasonable target fare and when you see it buy it. Ck regualrly especilaly consolidators like cheaptickets.com they will notify you if you follow directions. I did this last yr for Switzerland for Summer travel. Should be easy for September as it is shoulder season. Good Luck.
