upgrading to business class on Lufthansa

My husband and I have the opportunity to upgrade to business class flying from Dallas to Frankfurt through something called "my offer". Does anyone have any experience with this? I am trying to figure out how much to bid as it says you can only make an offer once. Thanks.

That sounds really interesting. I would probably bid $50-$100 over the minimum bid to try and get the best chance. Or maybe just $30-40 over the minimum if it's not that worth it to you.

Yes, that is what I was thinking, too. Just wondering if anyone has done this and did they get the upgrade? The minimum bid is $690 each. Pretty steep fee, but if you purchased it, it would be thousands of dollars more.

I noticed that Aer Lingus is doing this as well.

How many days does that open bid last for and can you see how many bids they have? Sounds interesting and just was trying to get info on how that works. You said you only get one bid so early and mid bids don't get a second chance. Last man standing sort of deal.

I believe Aer Lingus closed out the bidding process 48 hours before departure. It is clever way to raise revenue in unbooked business class seats. I am sure it is a blind bid. They are saying "What is it worth to you?"
It ain't E-Bay. Aer Lingus showed a little "thermometer" of how likely a price above the minimum would get you that business class seat. Obviously trying to get you to make a high bid.

I assume that Lufthansa is thinking better to sell it for something rather than letting some ff grab for next to nothing extra.

Thank you. Yes, that is correct. It is just extra revenue. Looking for advice from someone who has actually done this? Thanks!

Since it just started, I doubt if you will hear from many who have done iy. Last May we grabbed ff business class tickets two days prior to departure. Those days may be gone.
