Update on CDG - returning and transferring from Terminal 2F to 2E

Some of you may have seen my previous trip report that talked about the giant headache of transferring from CDG Terminal 2E to 2F (and I still stand by that story - it was horrible).

However, coming back was completely different. I flew from Berlin to Charles de Gaulle airport about 10 days ago. When we landed at CDG and disembarked in Terminal 2F, we were immediately greeted with very large and very bright yellow signs that told us the direction our gate was (I was heading to gate M28). I saw more signs that said, "Follow the yellow." So I did - the signs continued and occasionally you would see the same signs with the gate numbers and arrows to make sure you didn't get lost. Finally we entered an area that led to a bus pick up. Anyone for M gates (and a few other letters) got in one clearly marked line and other gates in another. We all boarded our respective buses, which took us to Terminal 2E where we got off. From there, we just followed the regular signs to our gate. The whole process took about 20 minutes (mostly walking time). It was incredibly easy. Security was done at the individual gates.

So here's my question - if CDG can manage to make a streamlined process going from 2F to 2E, why can't they do it from 2E to 2F? Do you think it's because going from 2E to 2F is usually from non-Schengen to Schengen? All I know is that the difference was like night and day.

I'm glad the return went better. Sorry it was such chaos going in the other direction. I flew through CDG a lot pre-COVID and never had any trouble going in either direction.

We recently encountered the same nightmare you probably did in getting from 2E to 2F. With an hours layover, making our connection was next to impossible. Once we hit security, it was so backed up, and there was absolutely no streamlining or help.

In another thread about today's strike at CDG, there is a link to an article where the head of the airport estimates that the airport is understaffed by 4,000 people! That is going to create some bottlenecks, I guess.
