We are arriving at cdg on a Friday and leaving the following Thursday. Previously, we have taken the rer to st Michael - then bought the 10 packs of metro tickets. Is one better off with something like a carte orange (navigo transportation) for zones 1-5? We are staying in St Germaine this time and traveling to roland garros and central paris only. Depending on the site I read the weekly passes may run Monday to Sunday - that would make it unpractical for us. Ideas please! Also, as I remember the line to buy rer tickets was incredibly Long at the counter the last time I did this. I have read that there are ticket machines now that accept only coins/ and I have read that there are ticket machines that accept non chip imbedded credit cards does anyone know which info is correct ?
Thanks!
The carte orange has been replaced by the Navigo Decouverte card on which you load a passe Navigo Semaine. However, it is valid Monday-Sunday, not any 7-day period. The ticket machines at CDG accept chip & PIN cards and euro coins. If you arrive with no euro, get some bills from an ATM at CDG and then get coins from a change machine. That way you'll avoid the line at a ticket window.
