I have been trying to buy tickets on the East Coast website all weekend and again today (Monday). The site keeps rejecting two different credit cards. I contacted my banks and Visa and we're doing everything right on our end. I'm clicking on the "international address" button on the site and putting that in, too. I emailed the company yesterday but didn't hear from them today. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to fix it? Thanks,
Mona in Seattle
Mona, Did you ever figure out a solution. I'm having the exact same problem with the East Coast website now. Thanks,
Kelli
Mona, I imagine the problems with the ticket purchases are making you Sleepless in Seattle (sorry, I couldn't resist). I had a similar problem booking tickets with East Coast Rail recently, and gave them a call in the U.K. It took me several tries as there were two numbers for use at different times of the day. One of the CS rep's suggested clearing the Cache and Cookies in the computer, and it worked instantly after that. Good luck!
Same problem here. I tried disabling my cookies, but it didn;t help- same result- no tickets. I emailed the company twice, and they responded, but said it's not a problem of their system, they will not honor the discounts by phone. Let's keep bugging them!
Hi Mona, we had a similar experience and with the help of the below respondents, we successfully made purchase by phonereceived the below number from a National Rail phone callour post was on June 27th if you wish to read itcall during the work week and their work hours (we only got a busy signal on the week end) hope this will help. Anne and Andy June 27th post below:
Thank you Tim, Ken and Nigel for your replies. Contacted by telephone from the US 011 44 8457 225 225 to reach National Rail to book an East Coast railroad for an Edinburgh to London Kings Cross tickets. Call hours 0800 to 1700 UK time. We were told that our on line credit card rejection was the result of a glitch in their computer system that they are attempting to correct.
I had the same problem and I finally figured it out. I was selecting "Visa Debit" and it was getting rejected. When I selected "Visa Credit", it worked. I think I paid like 3GB more, but at least I got the tickets. Hope this helps.
Still trying and none of the above works for me yet. Did not have the option of credit versus debit. Regarding those who called, did you get the best price/ East Coast lines email said that they would not honor the discounted price via phone.
I spent hours and hours on this issue because I contacted all of our banks and credit card issuers because East Coast kept saying it was not their website. I also communicated by email with East Coast multiple times. Their final solution was that I should call to buy the tickets but they would not honor the discount. I did not have a "Debit/Credit" option. I tried Visa through two different banks and Mastercard through yet another bank. None ever worked for me. I don't remember whether I tried to clear my cookies. After receiving the email from East Coast that I could call at my expense from Seattle and not receive the discount, I went to a different ticket broker, paid slightly more for the tickets (approx. 10 pounds), and spent 7 minutes on the entire process.
