UK Citizens discount train travel in europe

Do UK Citizens get a discounted fare in
Europe, and on Italian trains in particular, like they do in Museums?

You are eligible for the 20% Amica fare which is a limited availability advance purchase discount. Tickets must be purchased 24 hours ahead and there are only so many available for a particular train. trenitalia's website shows if a particular train has Amica fares available.

The Amica fare is not limited to UK/EU citizens.

thank you for your suggestion. Now I'll do some research on Amica, which I did not know about. I assume Amica tickets can be purchased on- line?

Trenitalia introduced a modified fare structure recently and have introduced some advance purchase discounts. There have been reports that the Amica fare has been restricted to certain routes/trains. Have not tried to book tickets myself recently so can't comment.

The Trenitalia site should give you more info on discounted fares

Also, I believe that Canadian credit cards are more likely to be accepted by Trenitalia than USA ones, but this may have changed?
