Looking for a company a US tourist can lease a compact RHD car in the UK for 100 days with pick-up and drop-off in Southampton or London. All I can find is longer periods, UK-citizen only, luxury models, and LHD-drive only. Thanks.

Most tourist leases are through Renault and Peugeot in France, but they will deliver and pick up the French (LHD) car in Britain for a fee of about $400; see www.renaultusa.com. Or, www.AutoEurope.com will arrange a regular British car rental for that long period, starting from about $1500.

I did a lease in the UK through Renault last year. The large fees are the pick up and drop off at Heathrow. There was no overseas delivery cost in the lease. The one thing they do not make very clear is that it will be a left hand drive car since at the end of the lease the car has to be returned to France to be resold. The off hand driving really was not that bad assuming you have a passenger, otherwise passing on a two lane road is just about impossible.
