Uber or Similar Apps in Europe

I will be in Spain in September and October and would like to know about using Uber and possible other similar apps to get around. Here are a few questions:

  1. Will the Uber App that I already use in the US work in Spain? If so, will it give me instructions in English?
  2. If the Uber App that I use in the US won't work in Spain, can I go to the Apple App store and install the Spanish version? If so, how? And will I be able to make it work in English?
  3. Besides Uber, is there another comparable ride sharing App that I should download in Spain?

I used Uber in Spain using the App that was already on my phone, and yes, it remained in English.

Living in France, we prefer Bolt and use it regularly. It’s available in Spain. The drivers tell me that they get to keep more of the money than with Uber. I deleted my Uber app.

We had problems with UBER in Portugal. We had a lot of drivers accept the drive and then later cancel. We also had times when we couldn't get drivers to accept in the first place. I'm told the issue with the cancellations is that the driver does not know the place or route until he/she accepts. We they see the route, they might feel that it is not profitable for them. This can happen in congested cities with one ways and also when the driver feels he/she can't get a rider to return to his original location. This is more of an issue with the platform itself not the drivers.

We used Free Now in Berlin - works just like Uber, but the cars are part of the Free Now fleet there, or else it's a taxi. It appears Free Now is in Spain, but you should probably check to see if it's in the cities where you'll be. I use Lyft at home, I can't remember why, but I had uninstalled the Uber app. Instead of reinstalling and trying to resurrect my login, I just downloaded Free Now.

We used Free Now in Spain this Spring in Valencia and Madrid. We also used it in Athens. Apparently it is available in 100 + cities.
It worked well for us.

These are regular taxis that sign up with the app. It works like Uber in that you put in your destination, it gives you a fixed price and then the charge is on your linked credit card. Easy!

Bolt works well for me in several countries. No language issues.

Bolt vehicles are buzzing around Tallinn like gnats. I haven't used any rideshare service myself.
