Hello fellow travelers, I am looking for updated advise on car riding services (Uber, Bolt) or taxi companies near Avignon. We will actually are staying in Rochefort du Gard Occitanie as a home base to visit different areas in Provence next August. Thank you in advance.

I doubt anyone here lives across the river from Avignon and can give up-to-date info. I can say that Uber, Bolt, and taxis are not always available, especially at rush hour, inside a city, much less 11 kilometers across the river. I once had to walk home from a hospital at 5 pm because neither Bolt nor taxis were available. Drivers work for all three. I live in a city in not too far from Avignon.
Taxis have areas they are licensed to serve. Provence is on the east side of the Rhône. You are staying in Occitanie on the west side of if the Rhône. You will want to verify which taxis serve both sides.
Finally, will need to reserve taxis in advance, as soon as you know your schedule if you want to be sure of a pickup. I like Bolt but drivers aren’t always available and I find it more expensive than a taxi. I don’t bother with Uber; drivers prefer Bolt.
If you are basing yourself in rural France you should rent a car. Taking taxis everywhere is quickly going to be expensive.
In Europe you usually need an official taxi license to operate a car for hire. So Bolt and Uber are just taxi hailing apps here, they are not at all like Uber in the US.
The information you have shared is much appreciated. Thank you.
Just gonna throw this out here: that area is ideal for self-guiding bike touring. And going in August the weather will be warm but mostly dry and pleasant.
It might not be your cuppa, but it's a good option that avoids a car and lets you see a lot more scenery, not being surrounded by a metal cage. It does mean possibly covering less ground, though - trade-offs.
Thanks for the bike idea option. I am meeting some cousins there and we are looking into the possibility of car rentals.
