U.S. Credit Card to Pay For Cab From Heathrow to Central London

Hello Everyone,

I've searched for the answer on this forum with no luck. I was just wondering if I could use my U.S. bank issued Visa debit card or U.S. bank issued Master Card credit card to pay for a cab from Heathrow to Central London? Thanks for the help.

dieseljockey,

I doubt that Taxis would accept the debit card, but they should accept the credit card. The other option you could consider would be to either pack along £100 or so, or stop at an ATM after you arrive at LHR.

You could of course also use the Heathrow Express or Tube (Picadilly line) to reach London.

Happy travels!

As Linda and Keith said, a private car service will be much cheaper than a taxi. Just Airports accepts credit carda and offers a discount for paying cash.

The surcharge for paying by card in a London taxi can be anything up to 12.5% of the meter fare.

Thanks to everyone for their help. I've gone ahead and reserved a car using Just Airports. Hopefully it'll prove stress free and easy. Thanks again.

If you are going to get a car from Heathrow into central London, have you considered getting a car all the way to Southampton? You could be halfway to Southampton in the time it takes from Heathrow to Waterloo station.

Google "Southampton airport taxis" and look for the Southampton companies that offer a service to Heathrow - most will. The car will take you door to door.
