Two British Isles transportation questions

I see an app based taxi service called FreeNow recommended for the Republic of Ireland. The app looks good but has anyone used it? How well does it work? Is it Dublin only?

Is there a comparable app in the UK? Do Uber or Lyft operate in the UK currently? I’m specifically looking for an app based taxi service in the Cotswolds, St. Ives and Cardiff.

Thanks for any information you can provide! (I did a search and there was nothing recent I could find).

St. Ives is a small place that you walk around.

You might have more responses by placing your post in the England section - even though Cardiff is in Wales - which has as separate forum on RS.

If you outline the places you wish to visit, people might advise on the best way of doing your travels. Taxis are obviously more expensive for travelling anything other than short distances.

St Ives is small but I might want a ride from Downalong to the train station with luggage, as an example. Trying to determine if that is even possible.

I’m only trying to figure out if there are App based taxi services for short distances in the general areas I mentioned.

I had two different transportation questions- one in Ireland and one in the UK. will repost this in the England forum and the Ireland forum.

When I google (being mindful that there is also a St Ives near Cambridge) I come up with-
A1 cars- https://a1carsstives.co.uk/
and
Ace cars- https://www.acecarstives.co.uk/

(there may be others).

Downalong and the station can both be accessed by road- they would probably drive down the harbour front- so I can't see why that wouldn't work.
Without trying to spend your money for you I wonder if it'd be worth just getting the taxi to take you to the mainline station at St Erth. Avoid one change.
We have Uber in the UK, you'd need to check the app but I doubt they run in St Ives.

I just responded to your other 2 posts that are about this. I have used FreeNow in Edinburgh and it worked fine.

The likes of Uber and Lyft will certainly run in Cardiff. Various other threads have noted that in the Cotswolds taxis are in short supply and are best pre-booked. No app based services there, I wouldn't have thought- or other posters would have mentioned them.

isn31c- Thanks for your responses. I don't mind you spending my money. That is a good idea about St. Erth. I'll look into it.
