Scattered news accounts this morning indicate a significant number of management and cabin crew fired at Turkish Airlines related to the failed coup attempt. What's the impact?
Can you post a link? I didn't catch this anywhere. I hope the chefs stay! Love the chefs. Maybe they'll have to serve Ottoman fare from now on??? (By the way, I'm joking...this is disturbing news)
A wide net is being cast to exact vengeance. I believe the airline has at least partial state-ownership and/or subsidies, although he's gone after private institutions as well (private schools, etc.).

What we are seeing is probably the end of a western style democracy. Ataturk would be very unhappy with the trend away from a secular state. Big issue for the west.
He is a form of a populist with a significant backing in the streets. It will be interesting to see how far it goes. Arresting teachers said a lot. Till then, it's not a place I would recommend. Well to be fair, it wasn't a place I recommended prior to the coup either.
Turkey is an amazing country that is struggling at the moment. I do look forward to returning some day.
