TSA PreCheck via CLEAR

Hi! Please can someone jog my memory on what I hope is a simple question?

We invested in TSA PreCheck via CLEAR a few months ago and it worked well flying out of Newark + avoiding the security lines.
I’m due to fly out of Newark again in August but I’ve forgotten how to make sure my KTN number and any other necessary TSA clearance information appear on my boarding pass.

I am concerned since the electronic boarding pass is usually issued by the airline (in this case SAS) 24 hours in advance, but the airline is not linked to CLEAR.
I am frustrated that I can’t get an answer to this seemingly simple question from CLEAR though I’ve emailed and phoned. The answer should be available on the CLEAR App but does not seem to be.
I’d prefer to know the drill before arriving at the airport if possible. Thanks very much in advance for your help.

When you pull up your reservation and /or airline account, many airlines have a page on which you can enter the info. Have a great trip.

Can't say in your circumstance, but it is a common issue that some non-US carriers do not participate in TSA Precheck, or CLEAR. A Google AI search indicates that SAS does participate in both at Newark, so you are probably down to calling their customer service number.

Have you looked on your profile on the SAS website or app linked to your ticket? Is there a place to enter your KTN - should be in the same place you're required to enter your passport number.

SAS has a field to add you KTN. I'm not familiar with CLEAR.

If you're boarding pass does not show your TSA pre check, just have the SAS agent at the airport update your record and print a new boarding pass.

Thanks so much for the many rapid replies. I’m so grateful.
Thanks for checking that SAS has a place to insert the CLEAR info. I couldn’t find it earlier but will try again (perhaps using laptop rather than iPhone.)
Your combined answers have reassured me that all should be well.
Good luck to you all on your future travels!

Expecting customer service from Clear is frustrating.

Get your Known Traveler Number and skip paying for this service in the future. (If you time it you will probably discover that the Clear precheck line is SLOWER than the normal precheck line.. hmmm... pay more for longer lines. And they wonder why I didn't renew :) )

I appreciate your confirming that CLEAR is not a good company to deal with.
I’ll try to deal exclusively with TSA Precheck in future as far as possible (though my membership through CLEAR is good for another 5 years.)

For us, Clear has been fantastic. Those lines are shorter than the Pre lines, so we always opt for one of the checkpoints that have this. My experience is mostly out of SEA. We have Global and Clear, so are pretty well set:)

The lines being shorter does not actually equal processing being past. My experience has been that it takes me longer to get through clear than it does my partner to get to the regular pre-check. So when it expires at the end of July in spite of their begging me to renew emails I have said no

I will say that if you have to pay for this yourself, don’t renew on the first offer because as it gets closer and closer to expiration the offers get better and better

I am late to this enjoyable thread, but here's what I think the story is:

  • there is no such thing as a list of airlines that participate in CLEAR. The question is whether there is a CLEAR lane at the terminal you want to get to.

I am not current on the Newark layout, but you should be able to get through security using
CLEAR at any terminal that has it, and then take the Airtrain post-security (this is where I might
be off) to the terminal your flight it at.

SAS does participate in PreCheck.

So this all seems to be kind of unnecessary worry. Check the page where the airline asks for
your passport number/expiration date, etc. That is usually where the KTN is also put in. But
as noted, if not, just call them.
