Heard that more reasonable fares are available on this site; but, in trying to book CDG to Avignon on May 4 at 9:58 it says "no direct trains available" then it shows that train and another from "Massey". ( Where is Massey?) Checking Rail Europe I see the 9:58 listed.

I don't know what you're doing wrong. I just checked tgv-europe.com and it shows tickets available for the 09:58 train. The cheapest Prem's fare tickets are gone, but you still can get Loisir fare tickets for €88.00. Massy is a TGV station south of central Paris and west of Orly airport. The RER B line goes directly from CDG to Massy-Palaiseau.
