We’re having a challenge with SFNC website and hoping someone might have some tips to offer. We want to travel from Paris (Marais) to Tours, 4 days later Tours to Bordeaux and 8 days later, Bordeaux to CDG. We are seniors and are not finding the site user friendly for finding schedules and booking. Almost trying to Carte Avantage Senior TGV versus seniors rates?
What date. It is possible that you could be looking too far in advance. Many find the 3rd party site
https://www.thetrainline.com/en-us more user friendly and I agree.
We’re leaving mid June and trip completed before the end of June. I did look at the train line, but the fares were considerably more expensive.
I had problems too! I gave up after I lost a good fare. I went to my travel agent and got the fare I had lost, and for the exact time I needed.
I booked trains in Spain in Portugal last year with no problem at all. Oh well, I’m taking a break and will try again tomorrow :-).
The fares on Trainline are not “considerably more expensive”, but are the same as on SFNC plus a small booking fee. Be sure you are comparing the same route and train with same class of service. I gladly pay the small booking fee on Trainline because it is much more user friendly than many other sites.
if you are using a website of "SFNC", you may be on a copycat website. The name of the train company is SNCF (La Société nationale des chemins de fer français - national company of the French railways). Same letters, different order.
The SNCF website is not very good. A good alternative is the site www.12train.com, which basically concentrates on selling tickets, and tickets only, and tries to keep it simple.
Another good alternative is www.raileurope.com.
One tip: Do not try to guess which Paris station you need to book from. Just pick "Paris (All Stations)" as origin.
