first timne travelling in europe - any suggesting on getting from bologna to paris?
Spanish discount carrier vueling and Italian discount carrier myair fly Bologna to Paris CDG. Fares from 30 to 57 Euro, with vueling being on the lower side. Remember, these tickets will be non-refundable and possibly non-changeable...if you can change the flights, it'll cost you. The sooner you book, the cheaper the air fare.
There is a direct night train that leaves Bologna at 22:02 and arrives in Paris at 09:10. Smart Price (discount) fares can be as low as €55 for a bunk in a six-person couchette and €60 for a bunk in a four-person couchette.
The fastest daytime route is Bologna-Milano-Paris, leaving Bologna at 06:44 and arriving in Paris at 16:11. Smart Price fares can be as low as €45.
You can book at www.trenitalia.com/en/index2.html up to 90 days in advance for international routes. Registering on the Trenitalia site is required before booking. Be aware that the site can be problematic and people sometimes are unable to complete that process.
I haven't made that trip so I can't comment on the scenery.
I like trains and my experience may be colored by the fact that I can sleep well in a reclining seat. My wife and I and our adult daughter took the Nice-Paris night train and shared a couchette with three other people. Nobody made a sound all night and the movement of the train was not unpleasant. However, if I get the chance to take another night train, I'll plan to move up to at least a four-bunk couchette for the extra luggage space and comfort.
Here is a link to a page that describes night train service between Paris and Italy: http://tinyurl.com/ytflo4. It includes photos of the accommodations.
